‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘9-1-1’ and ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Renewed for New Seasons on ABC
ABC has renewed their popular drama series for new seasons, including Grey’s Anatomy for 23rd season, 9-1-1 for 10th season and 9-1-1: Nashville for 2nd season.
Grey’s Anatomy is the longest running medical drama on television, created by Shonda Rhimes in 2005. The series stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, who was the show’s regular till season 19 when Pompeo left the main cast, though she continues her work as show’s narrator and she still appears in some episodes and serves as executive producer. The cast also includes Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey and James Pickens Jr. as Richard Webber who are starting since series premiere in 2005, Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson (since season 9th), Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd (since season 11th), Jason George as Ben Warren (since season 5th) and also Chris Carmack as Atticus Lincoln, Anthony Hill as Winston Ndugu, Alexis Floyd as Simone Griffith, Harry Shum Jr. as Benson Kwan, Adelaide Kane as Jules Millin, Niko Terho as Lucas Adams and Trevor Jackson as Wes Bryant.
In March, Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver announced their leaving from the show as Owen Hunt and Teddy Altman, respectively, after upcoming season 22 finale.
9-1-1 is created by Ryan Murphy, and Brad Falchuk. The series centers on the demanding and high-stakes lives of first responders, including police officers, firefighters, and dispatchers, who are constantly faced with intense, unpredictable, and often life-threatening situations. The show first premiered in 2018 and was produced by FOX, then in 2024 was moved to ABC with season 7. The cast included Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Oliver Stark as Evan Buckley, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta Wilson, Kenneth Choi as Howard Han, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Han and Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz.
9-1-1: Nashville is a newest addition to the “9-1-1” franchise, which also including 9-1-1: Lone Star, ended with season 5, and Doctor Odyssey ended with season 1. According to the official logline, the series tracks first responders as they navigate both their professional duties and a broader “family saga of power and glamour,” set against the backdrop of one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the United States. The cast features Chris O’Donnell as Donald Hart, Jessica Capshaw as Blythe Hart, Kimberly Williams-Paisley as Cammie Raleigh, LeAnn Rimes as Dixie Bennings, Michael Provost as Ryan Hart, Juani Feliz as Roxie Alba, Hailey Kilgore as Taylor Thompson and Hunter McVey as Blue Bennings.
Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
